Casey Alexander Smith

Native New Yorker, Casey Alexander Smith, has often been surrounded by the beauty found in art. This guided him toward a path as a technology enthusiast and arts professional. After completing a BFA from the School of Visual Arts he began a career in graphic design. Following opportunities with MTV, Viacom, Showtime, and AMC Networks, he decided to invest his time in film, theater, and television design. This passion for performance and storytelling became a natural transition into arts education. He successfully completed a Masters in Arts Education from Columbia University, Teachers College. With this degree, he began to guide and educate populations of students in various art and design courses across the Eastern United States. Many of these courses incorporate the use of critical examination and an engagement with visual communication. This engagement and with this population there was a natural incorporation of contemporary technology tools. Casey continues to develop new relationships with technology while fostering his work with clients in graphic design, private education and theatrical design. In addition to these freelance connections his drive to educate through the media encouraged a deeper understanding of academic research. Growing and working through a PhD. he has had the opportunity to expand his classroom and speak on a global scale. His mission of expanding critical awareness continues to guide him, while routinuely understanding the importance of practice and expression.
